Last Thursday, we celebrated the launch of our latest publication ‘Building Tomorrow. Today’ by hosting an exclusive breakfast for 40 leaders in the property and real estate industry at Fortnum & Mason.

At Matter Of Form, we are fascinated by the multitude of shifts in how we live and work that will create significant opportunities for developers in upcoming years. ‘Building Tomorrow. Today’ looked to discuss the following drivers: urban-dwelling; younger, mobile workforce; lack of affordable housing; family dynamics; the sharing economy; untethered workforce; the wellness age; and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The morning was incredibly insightful. We were delighted to welcome experts in the field Bert Broadhead (Real Estate at Alteris and host of ‘Building Our Future’ podcast) and Chris Choa (Vice President at AECOM) for a dynamic panel discussion.

Bert & Chris explored the current tension in cities with the need to remain competitive globally by attracting the next generation of innovators and talent, whilst at the same time maintaining and taking care of their existing populations. The pair discussed how humans will continue to come closer, despite the common belief that people want to get away from busy city and urban lives. The cities that will thrive will have a network mindset to allow larger groups of people to connect and be together. This will spur innovation and further growth.

The discussion sparked fascination in all and led to an engaged Q&A session with the audience which included executives from KnightFrank, Gardiner & Theobald, Landsec, CT Group & Savills.

We would like to thank Bert & Chris for their brilliant contribution to our event and to the team at Fortnum & Mason’s for hosting us such a successful and productive morning!

If you wish to discuss any of the content in the Building Tomorrow, Today report or get our thoughts on how to put some of our insights into action, please get in touch via hello@matterofform.com and we would be delighted to have a chat.
