Speaking about the appointment, CEO Anant Sharma described what Melissa would bring to the team:

The role itself entails ensuring design, content, UX and development teams are supported with search-based insight to make creative and technical decisions with the client’s search objectives in mind.
Melissa’s experience is broad, combining a background in journalism and research with experience in digital marketing, having formerly worked as Head of SEO Strategy at Go Up and consulting independently for a range of clients. She has worked on search projects for Justerini & Brooks, Banham, Egon Zehnder, Landmark Offices, Gerald Eve, Anyvan and CBI, amongst others.
Melissa expressed her enthusiasm for the new role, saying “SEO still has so many negative connotations. Thanks to its spammy, black-hat early years it’s often seen as the antagonist to beautiful design or considered UX, and it absolutely can be that--when it’s shoehorned into a project as an afterthought.”
