An important fixture in the London cultural calendar, it normally welcomes up to 2 million visitors and celebrates the diversity that makes up modern Britain.
Fixation were brought on to produce content for a three-day live event over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Over six weeks we filmed almost 250 different acts at Abbey Road Studios, Kennington Studios, The Royal Albert Hall, Theatre Royal Haymarket, Malcolm Ryan Studios as well as overseas across the Caribbean and Nigeria.
Shot on high end Arri Alexa's with full crews, we worked with Gallowglass to ensure all our productions were COVID safe – no mean feat given the thousands of participants. With support from Spotify, Samsung, Google Arts and Culture, Red Bull, the London Mayors Office, GLA and countless others we were able to bring the musicians, sound systems, masquerade bands and others into these prestigious locations and capture their art as never before.

In a year which saw the Black Lives Matter movement come to the fore and a general questioning of European colonial history this event is more relevant than ever so the organisers set out to bring the event online and maintain the spirit of carnival. We'd like to thank Matthew Phillip and his dedicated team from Notting Hill Carnival for trusting us with this historic event, doing justice to the wonderful community who make it so special. With over 4.5m impressions over the weekend, the initiative has been a huge success.
